6F2 Capping delivered in Manchester

6F2 is a coarse recycled capping fill graded 0–125 mm, the most widely used capping material on UK earthworks. It builds a stable working platform over soft formations quickly and cheaply, and is the usual first import onto a site once the muckshift is under way.

Into Manchester and across Greater Manchester we supply it loose by tipper, by grab lorry where a stockpile has to be loaded or reached over a boundary, or in bulk bags for plots a lorry can't discharge into. Next-day tipper and grab availability across Greater Manchester on stocked lines. Bulk-bagged drops scheduled to suit confined city-centre sites, and two-way loads arranged where muck needs to come off before stone goes on.

Typical uses on Manchester sites

  • General capping fill over weak subgrades
  • Site haul roads, compounds and crane platforms
  • Bulk level-up and fill on earthworks schemes
  • Piling mat build-up where design permits

Manchester's mix of high-rise commercial, residential infill and major civic schemes means our local customers range from groundworkers on multi-plot sites to drainage contractors needing bedding stone at short notice. Muckaway and skip hire run alongside supply on most city-centre jobs.

What shapes 6F2 Capping supply in Manchester

Mixed urban fill across city-centre and inner-suburb plots is exactly why 6F2 Capping moves in volume around Manchester — it builds a working platform that takes plant and lorry traffic before any sub-base goes down. City-centre plots with limited storage space and phased delivery slots decide whether it arrives by tipper, grab or bulk bag. Where the same site is also producing demolition arisings and mixed muck off constrained regeneration plots, we plan the removal and the delivery together so the lorry is not running one leg empty. The same routes serve Salford, Stockport and Bolton.

Questions we get asked

Is 6F2 the same as crusher run or hardcore?

They overlap in practice but are not interchangeable on paper. 6F2 is a specified capping grading under Clause 613 with defined limits, whereas 'hardcore' is a generic term. If your spec names 6F2, order 6F2 and we'll supply the supporting data.

Can 6F2 be used as a sub-base?

No — 6F2 is a capping material. For sub-base use MOT Type 1 to Clause 803, or recycled Type 1 where secondary aggregate is permitted.

Can you take muck away as well as deliver?

Yes — two-way loads are standard here. The lorry tips surplus soil or hardcore at a permitted facility and returns loaded with Type 1, bedding or topsoil, cutting both haulage and vehicle movements.

Material out as well as in, around Manchester

Most deliveries into Manchester pair with a removal: the lorry takes your arisings to a licensed facility and comes back loaded, so you pay for one movement rather than two.
