South West England

6F2 Capping delivered in Bristol

6F2 is a coarse recycled capping fill graded 0–125 mm, the most widely used capping material on UK earthworks. It builds a stable working platform over soft formations quickly and cheaply, and is the usual first import onto a site once the muckshift is under way.

Into Bristol and across South West England we supply it loose by tipper, by grab lorry where a stockpile has to be loaded or reached over a boundary, or in bulk bags for plots a lorry can't discharge into. Tipper and grab loads delivered across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire within 24–72 hours. Bulk-bag drops and timed windows arranged for Old City and harbourside sites with restricted access.

  • Site haul roads, compounds and crane platforms
  • Bulk level-up and fill on earthworks schemes
  • Piling mat build-up where design permits

Bristol's pipeline is dominated by housing and infrastructure groundworks — sub-base, bedding stone and capping in, muck and hardcore out — with WAC testing needed on many of the city's former industrial plots.

What shapes 6F2 Capping supply in Bristol

Former industrial ground across much of the city is exactly why 6F2 Capping moves in volume around Bristol — it builds a working platform that takes plant and lorry traffic before any sub-base goes down. Hill-side streets and phased housing parcels decide whether it arrives by tipper, grab or bulk bag. Where the same site is also producing made ground on ex-industrial plots that routinely needs WAC testing, we plan the removal and the delivery together so the lorry is not running one leg empty. The same routes serve Bath, Weston-super-Mare and Clevedon.

Questions we get asked

Is 6F2 the same as crusher run or hardcore?

They overlap in practice but are not interchangeable on paper. 6F2 is a specified capping grading under Clause 613 with defined limits, whereas 'hardcore' is a generic term. If your spec names 6F2, order 6F2 and we'll supply the supporting data.

Can 6F2 be used as a sub-base?

No — 6F2 is a capping material. For sub-base use MOT Type 1 to Clause 803, or recycled Type 1 where secondary aggregate is permitted.

How quickly can you deliver into central Bristol?

Stocked aggregates and bedding usually land within 24–72 hours, with timed windows for harbourside and Old City sites booked a couple of days ahead.

Material out as well as in, around Bristol

Most deliveries into Bristol pair with a removal: the lorry takes your arisings to a licensed facility and comes back loaded, so you pay for one movement rather than two.
