6F2 Capping delivered in Nottingham

6F2 is a coarse recycled capping fill graded 0–125 mm, the most widely used capping material on UK earthworks. It builds a stable working platform over soft formations quickly and cheaply, and is the usual first import onto a site once the muckshift is under way.

Into Nottingham and across East Midlands we supply it loose by tipper, by grab lorry where a stockpile has to be loaded or reached over a boundary, or in bulk bags for plots a lorry can't discharge into. Tipper and grab loads available across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire within 24–72 hours. The East Midlands Airport corridor is served on standard lead times, with timed windows for city-centre sites by arrangement.

  • Bulk level-up and fill on earthworks schemes
  • Piling mat build-up where design permits

Most Nottingham customers are civils and housing contractors working on city-fringe development and warehousing pads, where 6F5 capping, Type 1 sub-base and grab muckaway do the heavy lifting.

What shapes 6F2 Capping supply in Nottingham

Soft city-fringe ground where capping earns its keep is exactly why 6F2 Capping moves in volume around Nottingham — it builds a working platform that takes plant and lorry traffic before any sub-base goes down. Warehousing pads and city-fringe development plots decide whether it arrives by tipper, grab or bulk bag. Where the same site is also producing grab muckaway off development and warehousing sites, we plan the removal and the delivery together so the lorry is not running one leg empty. The same routes serve Derby, Mansfield and Long Eaton.

Questions we get asked

Is 6F2 the same as crusher run or hardcore?

They overlap in practice but are not interchangeable on paper. 6F2 is a specified capping grading under Clause 613 with defined limits, whereas 'hardcore' is a generic term. If your spec names 6F2, order 6F2 and we'll supply the supporting data.

Can 6F2 be used as a sub-base?

No — 6F2 is a capping material. For sub-base use MOT Type 1 to Clause 803, or recycled Type 1 where secondary aggregate is permitted.

Do you cover the East Midlands logistics corridor?

Yes — we supply civils contractors across the M1 corridor between Nottingham, Derby and East Midlands Airport.

Material out as well as in, around Nottingham

Most deliveries into Nottingham pair with a removal: the lorry takes your arisings to a licensed facility and comes back loaded, so you pay for one movement rather than two.
