6F2 Capping delivered in Cambridge
6F2 is a coarse recycled capping fill graded 0–125 mm, the most widely used capping material on UK earthworks. It builds a stable working platform over soft formations quickly and cheaply, and is the usual first import onto a site once the muckshift is under way.
Into Cambridge and across East of England we supply it loose by tipper, by grab lorry where a stockpile has to be loaded or reached over a boundary, or in bulk bags for plots a lorry can't discharge into. Grab, tipper and HIAB loads across Cambridge, Ely, Huntingdon and Newmarket. Timed and out-of-hours windows for city-centre and campus sites.

Conservation-area access and college estates mean timed, low-disruption drops; the science-park and biomedical campus pipeline runs on bulk sub-base and drainage bedding.
What shapes 6F2 Capping supply in Cambridge
Fen-edge ground on the city's outer plots is exactly why 6F2 Capping moves in volume around Cambridge — it builds a working platform that takes plant and lorry traffic before any sub-base goes down. Conservation-area and college-estate drops needing timed, low-disruption windows decide whether it arrives by tipper, grab or bulk bag. Where the same site is also producing arisings off tightly controlled campus and college sites, we plan the removal and the delivery together so the lorry is not running one leg empty. The same routes serve Ely, Huntingdon and St Neots.
Questions we get asked
Is 6F2 the same as crusher run or hardcore?
They overlap in practice but are not interchangeable on paper. 6F2 is a specified capping grading under Clause 613 with defined limits, whereas 'hardcore' is a generic term. If your spec names 6F2, order 6F2 and we'll supply the supporting data.
Can 6F2 be used as a sub-base?
No — 6F2 is a capping material. For sub-base use MOT Type 1 to Clause 803, or recycled Type 1 where secondary aggregate is permitted.
Can you deliver into conservation-area streets?
Yes — HIAB, bulk bags and manual offload cover sites where a tipper cannot discharge, with timed windows to limit disruption.
Material out as well as in, around Cambridge
Most deliveries into Cambridge pair with a removal: the lorry takes your arisings to a licensed facility and comes back loaded, so you pay for one movement rather than two.
