Pipe bedding & surround

10 mm single size pipe bedding

10 mm single size is a clean, washed, free-draining bedding and surround stone. With the fines removed it stays permeable long-term, which makes it the usual choice where the surround doubles as a drainage path — land drains, filter trenches and permeable ducting runs.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between 10 mm single size and 4/10 mm?

4/10 mm is graded between 4 mm and 10 mm so it knits together and compacts more tightly. 10 mm single size is a uniform, washed stone with the fines removed, so it stays more permeable but offers less mechanical interlock.

Can 10 mm bedding be used in a soakaway?

Yes, for smaller domestic soakaways and French drains. For larger attenuation volumes we'd usually recommend 4/20 mm or 20 mm single size for a higher void ratio.
